Introducing Corporate Sustainability Reports on Cognitive Credit

The credit market’s largest searchable document library is expanding to include Sustainability Reports. Here’s how you can access them via the Cognitive Credit web application.

At Cognitive Credit, we pride ourselves on being the market’s most comprehensive source of fundamental credit data. We don’t just deliver the market’s most-trusted fundamental credit data sets, but also the largest searchable document library for High Yield and Investment Grade issuers in the US and Europe.

And today, we’re pleased to announce the addition of Sustainability Reports to that library.

What is sustainability reporting?

Sustainability Reporting is the practice of disclosing information about an organization's environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance. In credit markets, it provides investors with valuable insights into a company's sustainability efforts and impacts, and showcases an issuer's commitment to responsible business practices.

Whilst there is not yet a globally accepted framework for how sustainability and ESG performance should be measured, many companies produce periodic reports detailing their efforts. These reports are usually distributed as PDFs, which allows us to process and add them to our expansive document library using our proprietary machine-reading technology.

Why is sustainability reporting important?

In today's socially conscious world, investors are increasingly drawn to companies that prioritize sustainability. In fact, according to S&P Global, Global Sustainable Bond issuance is expected to exceed $900bn in 2023.

For issuers, it’s an opportunity to disclose publicly their sustainability efforts and achievements, and differentiate themselves from competitors. For investors, it provides valuable insights into whether a company’s business activities are sustainable and how these practices align with an investor's goals and values. And we hear this first-hand too, as our clients frequently tell us that Sustainability is a key component of their wider investment strategy.

It’s clear that demand for transparent reporting on sustainability is increasing, and it’s because of this demand that we’re adding these documents to our reporting library going forward. With this additional coverage, credit investors can directly and transparently access the valuable context contained in these reports to better inform their decision-making, in one centralized and easily-searchable library.

How to access Sustainability Reports on Cognitive Credit

These newly available documents can be accessed in one of two ways:

How we build our searchable document library

Whenever we process a report using our proprietary machine-reading technology, we store the entire contents of that document in our database. We structure the information from these documents into various outputs, making it easier for our clients to leverage and gain value from them.

Needless to say, there’s a lot of information contained in company reports that isn’t used directly in a credit model - MD&A, accompanying notes, disclosures, notices, etc. - and it’s all valuable context to potential investors. That’s why we save every document in its entirety in our digital library and make it fully searchable.

Right now, that library stands at nearly 100,000 documents, accessible via our web application

Richer, searchable data for your credit analysis

With the addition of Sustainability Reports to our application, the market’s largest searchable library of financial documents is now even bigger.

Covering over 1,750 issuers across four data licenses - US High Yield, US Investment Grade, European High Yield and European Investment Grade - we offer credit investors the most complete data sets for their credit analysis, and provide vital context for their decision-making, helping them form their own view faster.
